Small investment funds call the current setup of the UBO register for trusts unworkable and are sounding the alarm. This again threatens to stir controversy around the UBO register, following backlogs at the Chamber of Commerce, opposition from entrepreneurs and a major amendment to the law under pressure from the European Court.
The trust register provides insight into the persons who have a role or financial interest in trusts and similar legal structures, including alternative investment vehicles. It records founders, managers, legal owners, custodians and investors. The trust register exists alongside the regular UBO register.
